The University of Tennessee Endowment, funding all UT campuses across the state, invests millions of dollars into the fossil fuel industry.
Historically, the fossil fuel industry has acted with little remorse for the environmental degradation it causes and the people it exploits, all in the name of monetary gain.
This monetary gain no longer exists. They are bad investments now, and they will only get worse. Fossil fuel stores are quickly running out and policy changes are requiring the transition to cleaner energy to reduce emissions, remove health hazards from vulnerable communities, and ensure a financially stable future for the UT system and the students that benefit from it. All ethical arguments aside, investing in fossil fuels is no longer a viable option for the financial health of the UT system.
The time to divest from fossil fuels is now. Help Fossil Free TN send UT the message! Make the University of Tennessee fossil free.
